This role is very critical to our extreme growth and the ideal candidate will be very organized, familiar with automotive/truck chassis (some technical knowledge is required) and engineering processes and is familiar with the intricacies of a fast-paced environment, have a strong desire for growth within a company and be a great communicator. This position is the perfect fit for someone with a high level of initiative & follow-through, who is extremely detail oriented with a highly accurate typing ability. The ideal candidate will have (or can learn) working knowledge of product structure, selection logic and engineering change management processes.
Candidates that possess technical knowledge of vehicles, options and specifications are highly preferred.
Role and Responsibilities
- Act as liaison between offshore contracted engineers and Battle design engineering team.
- Receive assigned tasks and projects from Battle engineering team and ensure task specifics are understood to communicate them and assign them to the offshore contract team.
- Project manager for all assigned tasks and project with the offshore team, coordinating complete list of assignments ensuring all are completed timely and accurately.
- Receive models and prints from offshore engineers, review and check for accuracy and complete standards.
- Create Solidworks CAD models and drawings. Perform mathematical computations to develop, design and create detailed specifications of components.
- Facilitate NPI (new product introductions) process for product development and identify requirements for new products in the market.
- Complete training of offshore engineering contractors on Battle Motor’s processes, procedures and standards to ensure they are followed at all times.
- Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master parts, assembly and drawings.
- Make bill of materials and drawing revisions following the Change Management Process.
- Begin ECN/ECO process for Battle engineers from completed tasks from the offshore team and review with each team lead.
- Interact with suppliers, dealers, and customers as required.
- Support other members of the Engineering department, check design work to verify layout, fit, form, function, materials, specifications and other details/documents as required.
- Schedule and conduct regular meetings with engineering team to ensure all metrics are on time and complete.
- Lead daily meetings with the offshore contract team at 7am ET for daily tasks and projects.
- Complete design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layout, drawings, calculations, weight estimates and provide supporting documentation.
- Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Comfortable with complex problem solving and rapidly changing priorities
- Comfortable in high pressure environments during rapid ramp up periods (as is the case during next six months)
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field desired. Equivalent education and experience required.
- Experience in product development in automotive/heavy truck battery electric vehicle powertrains required.
- 3D CAD proficiency required; SolidWorks experience desired
- Hindi language proficiency required.
- Expert level Microsoft office expertise, specifically in Excel
- Experience using ERP and CRM programs desired.
Preferred experience and skills
- Strong automotive/heavy truck technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to effectively work as part of a team with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate across the organization and lead presentations.
