Your mission

Join us in solving one of industrial robotics' toughest challenges

R3 Robotics is developing the AI-powered dismantling platform that transforms end-of-life electric vehicle systems into strategic sources of critical materials. As global electrification accelerates, the surge in batteries and e-motors requires automated solutions that manual disassembly cannot provide. We are addressing this industrial bottleneck by enabling the automated dismantling of complex systems at scale through computer vision, artificial intelligence, and specialized robotic tooling.

Following a successful €20M Series A funding round led by HG Ventures and Suma Capital, we are expanding across Europe and preparing for our entry into the United States market in 2026. We partner with major industrial recyclers and automotive OEMs to deliver measurable impact. If you seek to work on advanced robotics within a well-funded organization scaling internationally, this is your opportunity

YOUR ROLE

As an Engineering Technician at R3 Robotics, you'll be a hands-on expert that transforms complex physical products (like batteries and e-drives) into digital assets. This involves getting deep into the product: disassembling and reversing existing products to identify their complexities, meticulously collecting data and recording key insights. This is a practical, hands-on role that requires hard work in a lab environment.
You will utilize your expertise to assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems for our cutting-edge battery disassembly technology.

Working closely with engineers, you'll also conduct engineering assessments to identify opportunities for automation and potential designs for our automated disassemble process
This role is perfect for a skilled technician who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and takes pride in turning innovative ideas and physical product insights into tangible, world-changing digital solutions.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out hands-on disassembly of complex products, including EV batteries and e-drive systems, following defined procedures and safety standards.
  • Support detailed data collection during teardown activities, including recording measurements, component condition, and build characteristics.
  • Assist engineers in reverse engineering activities by documenting findings, capturing images, and organizing physical and digital data.
  • Support the build and assembly of prototype tooling, fixtures, and disassembly equipment.
  • Assemble mechanical systems and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions with high attention to detail.
  • Work closely with mechanical and controls engineers to support testing, debugging, and iterative improvement of prototype systems.
  • Assist in identifying practical improvements in disassembly processes, tooling, and data capture methods.
  • Manufacture and modify simple jigs, fixtures, and components using workshop equipment, including CNC machines, manual mills/lathes, and fabrication tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are properly managed.
  • Support integration activities, including fitting sensors, actuators, motors, and pneumatic components to machinery and test rigs.
  • Assist with testing, validation, and troubleshooting of prototype machines and automated disassembly systems.
  • Follow all health, safety, and handling procedures, particularly when working with high-voltage battery systems and hazardous components.

Your profile

  • Strong hands-on mechanical skills with experience in disassembly and assembly of complex mechanical or electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience working in a workshop or lab environment (automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, or similar)
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and basic CAD models
  • Experience using workshop equipment (manual machining, fabrication tools; CNC beneficial but not essential)
  • Good attention to detail and structured approach to data recording
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems; exposure to electrical or control components is advantageous
  • Practical, hands-on problem solver with a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Comfortable working on early-stage or prototype systems
  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and precision
  • Team player, able to work closely with engineers in a fast-paced development environment
